Gabriella Giubilaro

Gabriella is widely known for her dynamic teaching of Iyengar yoga, her good humor, her attention to individual needs, and the clarity of her presentation. She believes in communicating the essence of the yoga postures through simple, but meaningful explanations that help her students discover the intelligence of their own bodies. She also constantly challenges the students so that they can attain & express their maximum potential. Gabriella began her practice of Iyengar yoga with Dona Holleman in 1973, and then assisted and worked with Dona for sixteen years. She received her doctorate in physics from the University of Florence in 1977, following which she decided to dedicate her life to the study and teaching of yoga. Her thorough scientific training is evident in her teaching, her explanations being clear and direct, often drawing on scientific principles. Gabriella made her first trip to Pune, India, in 1983 to study directly with B.K.S. Iyengar. She has returned every year since then to study with "Guruji" and the Iyengar family. Since 1986, she has taught regularly in Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Bielorussia, and the USA. In 1989, she opened the Iyengar Yoga Center in Florence.
